The natural assumption many people make when it comes to British buyers of Spanish property is that BREXIT has all but killed off any interest from such buyers. However, when you look at the figures in more detail and the nationalities of buyers, especially in Marbella, Estepona and Benahavis, it is clear to see that there has in fact been a huge increase in British buyers on the Costa del Sol.
According to some of developers and estate agents in the area, when compared to the previous 12 months, many saw virtually double the number of British buyers. It seems that whatever is going on at the government level in terms of negotiations, the Brits are determined to continue to enjoy a second home in the sun.
With Costa del Sol tourism at record levels and an improving economy, the Spanish property market is on the rise and is expected to keep doing so until at least 2022.
Even some of the developers like Taylor Wimpey Spain have confirmed these figures and expect property prices to start rising due to the increase in demand. With many of the new development being constructed in Estepona and Benahavis, these areas are also thriving with new infrastructure and some amazing homes for sale.
There are several factors that seem to be influencing the rise in the Brits buying again but one important element is a more stable exchange rate. This provides more confidence and with tourism also getting stronger on the Costa del Sol, it has meant that these areas are very much in demand with buyers.
